Conan O’Brien Lands New Hosting Gig for ‘Carson on TCM’

O'Brien will join Turner Classic Movies for "Carson on TCM," a new series featuring memorable interviews from "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson."

Conan O’Brien is paying homage to one of his late-night talk show predecessors.

The comedian will be joining Turner Classic Movies this summer to host "Carson on TCM," a new series featuring memorable Carson interviews from his three decades at the helm of "The Tonight Show."

"Conan has long idolized Johnny Carson, and he understands what it's like to be on the other side of the desk. We're thrilled to have him coming to TCM to share his unique insight and perspective," said Jeff Greog, chief marketing officer of Turner Broadcasting.

O'Brien has been a late-night fixture himself for 20 years. The current host of "Conan" on TCM’s sister network TBS will introduce five interviews each week on the new show.

The inauguaral interview that will air is Carson's 1982 interview with a seven-year-old Drew Barrymore, who currently co-hosts TCM’s "The Essentials." The night will also feature classic interviews with Kirk Douglas, Mary Tyler Moore, Neil Simon and George Burns.

"Carson on TCM" is set to air Mondays at 8 p.m. ET beginning July 1.
