Is Jon Snow still alive?

Fans hoping for a definitive answer to “Game of Thrones’” biggest cliffhanger were left wanting after the show’s San Diego Comic Con panel Friday. The assembled cast – Gwendoline Christine, Liam Cunningham, Carice Van Houten, Natalie Dormer, Sophie Turner, Alfie Allen, Hanah Murray, John Bradley, Maisie Williams and Colenth Hill and director David Nutter and executive producer Carolyn Strauss — mostly sidestep the question when it was brought up by a fan.

But after a sizzle reel featuring audition footage from various cast members, Nutter did state that Jon Snow is “deader than dead,” as he said he told President Barack Obama upon meeting him recently.

According to the cast, the pressure to keep things secretive is higher than ever now that the HBO fantasy drama has caught up to and in some aspects deviated from the George R.R. Martin novels on which the show is based.

When prompted by a fan, Sophie Turner addressed the controversial storyline her character Sansa Stark went through.

“If there’s one thing Sansa still is — despite what happened to her — it’s strong,” Turner said. She also opted to sidestep a question about why the scene focused on Theon (Alfie Allen) rather than Sansa, joking, “I don’t know why they decided to focus on Theon, because I was giving a great performance!”
