Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich took to Twitter to praise Donald Trump’s joint press conference with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and it’s getting attention online for its many typos.
Gingrich misspelled five of the first seven words of his tweet; the words he correctly spelled are “was” and “in.” It seems he was trying to say “President Trump was remarkably strong in his joint press event with Sen. McConnell. His grasp of the issues is very deep and growing.”
It turned out like this, however:
Gingrich later deleted the tweet and acknowledged the typos, saying “sometimes my ideas are faster than my fingers. Concept still right.” He tried again, this time correctly tagging the @potus account and with correct spelling.
i accept responsibility for typos in my last tweet. Sometimes my ideas are faster than my fingers. Concept still right

The reactions have understandably been quick and hilarious. Several people on Twitter thought Gingrich was drunk (or high) texting:
GONE OFF THAT PINOT NOIR AND LIPITOR AT 2:56 P.M. BABY

One Twitter user mentioned Gingrich’s 1978 visit to his former wife’s hospital bedside where she was recovering from an operation for uterine cancer… and insisted they discuss the terms of their divorce.
I assume your spellcheck is in the hospital battling cancer so you abandoned it

And others were concerned for his well-being:

Are you okay?? Just kidding! Not really asking! You should get this made into a beautiful plaque.
