News comes on the heels of ABC talk show’s co-host lineup

CBS’ “The Talk” has topped ABC’s “The View” in both total viewers and in the key demographics, according to Nielsen numbers released Thursday.

“The Talk” delivered 2.36 million viewers for the week ending on Sept. 27 compared to “The View’s” 2.31 million. Likewise, the CBS daytime show scored in the women 25-54 demographic with a 0.9 rating/6 share, while “The View” got a 0.8/05. “The Talk” also won out in women 18-49 with a 0.6/4 against “The View’s” 0.5/04.

“The View” has been attempting to revamp this season with a new co-host lineup. Comedian Michelle Collins and Raven-Symone were named as permanent additions to the hosts’ table, in addition to bringing back former co-host Joy Behar.

“The Talk” has been steadily rising in the ratings, recently beating “The View” for the first time ever in the women 25-54 demo. For the 2014-2015 broadcast year, “The Talk” averaged a 1.0 rating and 6 share in the demo, while “The View” averaged 0.9/6. “The Talk” also tied “The View” for the first time in women 18-49 demographic with a 0.7/5.

CBS stood head and shoulders above its competition from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The network averaged 4.1 million viewers in the daytime hours for 2014-2015.

ABC averaged 2.9 million, while NBC-which only programs one hour in daytime, “Days of Our Lives”-averaged 2.7 million, according to Nielsen. This marked the 29th straight year CBS has won in daytime ratings for total viewers.
