Newsroom Promotions Follow Rapid Recent Traffic Growth

Monday, July 8, 2013 – TheWrap is pleased to announce that Joseph Kapsch has been promoted to executive editor and that Josh Dickey has rejoined TheWrap as a managing editor, part of a move to significantly expand the newsroom that has been underway since earlier this year. Both changes are effective immediately.

The moves enhance TheWrap’s senior editorial team, which also includes Lew Harris, Managing Editor, and Diane Garrett, who has been promoted to Senior Editor. Dickey previously served at TheWrap as deputy editor and returns to the newsroom after senior editing stints at Variety and TMZ.

Kapsch has been deputy managing editor since March. “Joseph has brought his infectious energy to the newsroom since coming on board, significantly enhancing our coverage and our traffic in just a few months,” said Sharon Waxman, the site’s CEO and Editor in Chief. “He is the right person to lead the newsroom in our mission to be the very best digital news site covering the business of entertainment.”

She continued: “And we could not be happier to welcome back Josh Dickey, one of the most talented and committed editors I have yet to come across. He brings with him a razor-sharp news sense and deep knowledge of the entertainment industry and digital media.”

Said Kapsch:  “I’m incredibly thrilled to continue my career trajectory at TheWrap alongside one of the hardest-working, smartest group of journalists in the business. The addition of Josh and Diane to our senior editorial staff only further strengthens our position as we continue to grow the brand across multiplatforms.”

Said Dickey: “This is a stupendously cool homecoming for me. Hollywood trade journalism has become my absolute passion, and there’s really only one place to conduct it passionately. For me, that’s where it all began — and clearly where it’s trending to — at TheWrap.”

The editorial additions come on the heels of the expansion of TheWrap’s reporting staff, included Deal Central reporter Jeff Sneider and senior television writer Jethro Nededog.

TheWrap has seen tremendous momentum in its traffic in the past three months, with unique visits growing to an average of 2 million-plus unique users per month.

TheWrap has also expanded its technology expertise and continued to grow its events in 2013, with the addition of a second Grill conference that was successfully held on June 28 at the L.A. Convention Center.
