Hurt Bae is all of us — well, those of us who have ever been cheated on in our relationships.
On Valentine’s Day (how appropriate), The Scene released a now viral video of two exes, Kourtney Jorge and Leonard Long III, confronting each other about their past relationship that involved a little bit (a lot) of cheating.
While it sounds like the perfect, mature, adult way to get closure or whatever after experiencing infidelity in a relationship, social media quickly began rallying behind Jorge after it was deemed that Long was pretty much the worst person alive. Not exactly because of what he did, but because of his attitude during the confrontation.
“How many times did you cheat on me?” asked a clearly emotional Jorge in a barely audible voice.
“I don’t know,” responded a seemingly unbothered Long. “I wasn’t counting.”
That’s when Jorge got up and walked off set to get more tissues because she was crying. And that’s when social media lost it; that was the breaking point. How could you, Long?!?!
The video goes on to show Long eventually apologizing and explaining that it wasn’t her, it was him (classic unfaithful men) and the two are apparently open to being friends later on in life… but social media was having none of that.
Jorge became dubbed Hurt Bae and, no surprise here, memes and parodies ensued shortly after. People even began wondering what Long’s zodiac sign was because, of course, only a Scorpio could do such horrors.
In an interview with Essence, Jorge said that she’s embraced the Hurt Bae title and thought that her situation could help empower other women in similar circumstances.
“At the time, I felt like it was important for me to know the truth about everything to finally get to the bottom of it, get closure and try to move on,” she said.
