Ugly Aliens Go to Battle in ‘John Carter’ Trailer

Premiered Wednesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America”

Now that "The Muppets" is in theaters, Disney is building anticipation for its next project, "John Carter." A new trailer for the $250 million movie, directed by Oscar-winner Andrew Stanton ("Wall-E," "Finding Nemo"), debuted Wednesday on corporate sibling ABC's "Good Morning America."

"John Carter" is based on Edgar Rice Burroughs' novel and is about a former military captain who finds himself transported to Mars, where he gets entangled in a battle with the planet's inhabitants.

The film was shot in Utah, Los Angeles and London — not on Mars, star Taylor Kitsch joked on "Good Morning America."

"Let them be crushed," a voice growls at the beginning of the trailer, in which "Avatar"-looking aliens go to battle with the titular hero in the desert.

Kitsch added that he did "a lot of wire work" during the film shoot, and that he still has "the scars to prove it on [my] groin."
