CBS Doles Out Details on New ‘Deal’

CBS is confirming what TheWrap first reported Sunday: "Let’s Make a Deal" is a go for a fall launch on the network’s daytime lineup.

The Wayne Brady-hosted show will premiere Monday, Oct. 5. That’s a few weeks after "Guiding Light" is slated to leave the air Sept. 18. We’re checking to see if "GL’s" run will be extended a few weeks, or if the Eye has other plans for the slot during those two weeks ("Harper’s Island: The Lost Episodes"?)

CBS also confirmed that Mike Richards of "The Price is Right" will executive produce the new "Deal." And according to CBS Daytime chief Barbara Bloom, original host/producer Monty Hall will serve as a creative consultant on the revival.

Finally, the explanatory quote:

"We’re very pleased to bring this franchise back to American audiences," said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of "Deal" producer FremantleMedia North America. "A global brand with a proven track record, ‘Let’s Make a Deal’ is a game show that delivers the kind of upbeat, unpredictable and aspirational fun viewers are looking for…. We’re confident this new version will provide the entertainment value that has made this brand resonate around the world for decades."
