Dave Franco Joins Vince Vaughn in Comedy ‘Business Trip’

Ken Scott, who recently worked with Vaughn on "Delivery Man," is directing New Regency's comedy

Dave Franco may have played a master illusionist in "Now You See Me," but his rising status as a budding movie star is no illusion — he's in final negotiations to join Vince Vaughn in New Regency's comedy "Business Trip," TheWrap has learned.

Ken Scott, who just worked with Vaughn on DreamWorks' comedy "Delivery Man," is directing the movie, which follows an American businessman who travels to Europe where madness in the vein of "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" ensues.

Franco is in talks to play Mike Pancake, the newest member on Vaughn's sales team who, unlike his "Now You See Me" character, may not be playing with a full deck.

Escape Artists' Todd Black, Steve Tisch and Jason Blumenthal are producing the film, which was written by Steve Conrad.

Franco, who I first noticed taking acting lessons from his older brother in the Funny or Die short "Acting with James Franco," has been climbing Hollywood's casting wish-lists ever since his cocky turn in DreamWorks' remake of "Fright Night." He played a teenage drug dealer alongside Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in "21 Jump Street" and co-starred in Summit's zombie movie "Warm Bodies."

Franco will soon be seen opposite Seth Rogen and Zac Efron in the Universal comedy "Townies." He's repped by CAA and James/Levy Management.

Franco's casting was first reported by Variety.
