Dev Patel Joins Aaron Sorkin’s HBO Show ‘More As This Story Develops’

The “Slumdog Millionaire” star joins Jeff Daniels in the upcoming newsroom drama

Aaron Sorkin is slowly but surely assembling a strong cast of underrated actors for his upcoming HBO series, "More As This Story Develops."

Dev Patel, best known as the star of the Oscar-winning film "Slumdog Millionaire," is the latest signing, TheWrap has confirmed. He'll play a supporting role in the drama, which is set behind the scenes at a sensationalist news program.

He'll join Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Sam Waterston and Olivia Munn on the show, Sorkin's first TV series since "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" bombed on NBC during the 2006-07 season but his first project since winning the 2010 Academy Award for Best Writing (Adapted Screenplay) for "The Social Network."

Sorkin also wrote the movie adaptation of the Michael Lewis best-seller "Moneyball," which will hit theaters in September, but that was completed in 2010.

Greg Mottola is set to direct the pilot episode of "More As This Story Develops," which is slated to debut in 2012.
