The Spanish-language digital media company Latin Everywhere is rebranding itself as Pongalo, the company announced on Thursday.
The name change brings the entire company under the name of its YouTube network and OTT service. The move comes after investments from the mobile-focused private equity fund Digital Bridge and Los Angeles-based digital media fund Canyon Creek Capital, as well as a seven-figure investment by Revolution Studios in May.
The company said Thursday that it plans to use the new investments to launch a subscription SVOD service, which will feature Spanish-language films and TV shows, as well as original content.
“When we started this company two years ago, our goal was to put Latin content everywhere, so we called it ‘Latin Everywhere,’” said Pongalo Chairman Rich Hull and CEO Jorge Granier in a joint statement. “But after our Pongalo-branded YouTube channels took off, Pongalo became a brand loved by millions of Latino digital consumers.”
“This corporate name change is a tip of the hat to our amazing fans who’ve made the Pongalo brand one of the most well-known Latino film and TV brands in the digital market today,” the statement continued.
“In English, Pongalo translates to ‘play it!’ and we can’t imagine a more succinct summary of what our platform is about.”
