Disney Sets ‘Thor 2’ Release Date for July 26, 2013

The studio also moves the release date of “The Help” to Aug. 10, 2011

"Thor" is rumbling back to movie theaters without Kenneth Branagh.

"Thor 2," a sequel to this year's superhero film from Marvel, will be released July 26, 2013, its distributor, Walt Disney Studios, announced Thursday.

Disney, which purchased Marvel last year, is taking over distribution of the franchise from Paramount.

Like this year's "Thor," it'll star Chris Hemsworth as the disturbingly fit warrior.

But the picture has no director. Branagh, who directed the first installment, reportedly is not returning.

Disney also announced Thursday that its movie "The Help" will be released Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2011, instead of Friday, Aug. 12.

Hemsworth is a busy actor lately: The Aussie stars in Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman," set for a June 1, 2012 release, as Thor in Marvel's "The Avengers" and as Jed Eckert in this year's Contrafilm remake of "Red Dawn," which MGM is distributing.
