Nice try, Donald

Donald Trump has built his entire campaign on being the non-apologist Washington agitator who “tells it like it is.”

But a video from 2005 unearthed Friday capturing a then-recently wed Trump bragging about his attempts to seduce a married woman and boasting about how he could get away with “anything because he’s a “star,” was so bad it forced Trump to wander somewhere in the neighborhood of an apology.

‘This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago,” Trump explained in a statement. “Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course – not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”

Keen eyes will note that Trump is not sorry for what he said, but is sorry for possibly offending people. In other words, he’s sorry some people are thin-skinned and overly sensitive.

But wait — there’s more. Before he even sort of apologizes, he justifies his statements as “locker room banter” and then drags Bill Clinton — the husband of his presidential rival — into it.

Trump is actually trying to score political points here, as women and men all over the country are still trying to digest all the vile things he said back in 2005.

And let’s not forget the “it happened a long time ago excuse.” As if there’s a statute of limitations on offending so many people.

No mater how you slice it, Trump’s apology was pretty damn sorry.
