Fox Extends New Regency Distribution Deal Through 2022

Deal will keep Arnon Milchan’s production house, which is behind such Fox franchises as “Big Momma’s House” and “Alvin and the Chipmunks,” in the the studio’s fold for nine more years

Fox Filmed Entertainment and Arnon Milchan's New Regency have extended their distribution arrangement nine years, the companies announced Monday.

Under the extension, Fox will continue to distribute New Regency films through 2022.

The joint announcement was made by New Regency co-chairmen Hutch Parker and Bob Harper, and Fox Filmed Entertainment chairman Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman.

"Arnon Milchan is a multifaceted, passionate enthusiast for all he touches," said Rupert Murdoch, chairman of Fox parent company News Corp., in statement. "He is an Israeli businessman, and Israeli political enthusiast, a Hollywood producer and a remarkable art collector. He is a loyal and generous friend who also happens to be a great long-term and trustworthy partner."

Fox's 2011 release slate is laden with New Regency product, including upcoming installments of "Big Momma's House" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks," as well as Justin Timberlake thriller "Now" and Anna Faris comedy "What's Your Number?"

The company has rendered recent hits including "Marley & Me," as well as duds including "Marmaduke" and "Meet Dave."

Fox has been distributing New Regency product since 1991.

"In a business where longtime producer commitments are rare, we're both proud and pleased to build upon an already strong partnership," added Gianopulos and Rothman in a joint statement. "Hutch and Bob have been amazing colleagues and, more recently, partners, and they and their team at New Regency are some of our industry's strongest executives."
