Grace Byers will join the cast of Fox’s Marvel drama “The Gifted” as a series regular for the show’s second season, the network announced on Tuesday.
The “Empire” alum will play Reeva, a member of the Hellfire Club. She is described as “a smart, charming, authoritative, elegant, beautiful woman who is ruthless in her efforts to fight for her people.”
In the “X-Men” comics, Reeva Payge is a mutant with the ability to generate a high pitch from her vocal cords that can distort other people’s perceptions of reality.
On the show, she will team up with Polaris (Emma Dumont), Andy Strucker (Percy Hynes White) and The Frost Sisters (Skyler Samuels) as part of the Hellfire Club’s Inner Circle. She is the leader of an elite band of followers and has a soft spot for her new recruits, but is still capable of extreme violence in defense of her vision.
“The Gifted” follows two ordinary parents (Stephen Moyer and Amy Acker) who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants who must fight to survive.
Natalie Alyn Lind, Jamie Chung, Blair Redford, Sean Teale, Emma Dummont, Percy Hynes White and Coby Bell also star.
Byers starred on “Empire” for four seasons as Anika (a.k.a. Boo Boo Kitty), opposite Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard before being killed off in the Season 4 finale. She also appeared in 2017’s Karl Urban-led thriller “Bent.”
She is repped by by The Gersh Agency, Principal Entertainment and Vision PR.
