John M. Chu’s ‘Dance Camp’ to Launch Awesomeness-YouTube Partnership

Musical drama will star Meg D’Angelis and Jake Paul

Awesomeness Films and YouTube have begun production on “Dance Camp,” the first feature film under their new partnership.

The film tells the story of unlikely friendships, unleashing passions and discovering yourself all through the power of dance. John M. Chu is producing, with directing duo Bert & Bertie behind the camera.

Meg D’Angelis, Jake Paul, Nadji Jeter, Josh Leyva, Jordyn Jones, Jacob Wysoki, Niki Demartino and Gabi Demartino star. The film will be choreographed by Fatima Robinson.

“Music and dance are universally appealing. We are thrilled to be working with prolific dance experts like Jon and Fatima on ‘Dance Camp’ as they continue to set the bar for the dance genre,” said Matt Kaplan, President of Awesomeness Films.

The partnership between Awesomeness and YouTube was announced in April, with the two entities seeking to release multiple feature-length films over the next two years, which will be driven by YouTube stars and developed and produced by Brian Robbins from AwesomenessTV.

After global premieres on YouTube, the films will be available on other platforms.

Awesomeness previously produced and released “Smosh: The Movie” and “Expelled.”
