News Corp. has expanded Julie Henderson's duties: The exec, formerly senior VP of corporate communications and public affairs, now commands the title of senior VP of communications and corporate strategy.
In her new position, Henderson will retain her previous duties and assume an added responsibility for bringing greater value to News Corp.'s myriad businesses, with an emphasis on expanding News Corp.'s marketing influence via "distribution opportunities across the company" and "emerging digital platforms."
Henderson will continue to report to News Corp. senior vice president, corporate affairs and communications Teri Everett for her communications duties, and will report to Chase Carey, deputy chairman, president and chief operating officer, for her strategy duties.
In announcing the promotion, Carey stressed the need to "build on each [News Corp.] unit’s complementary strengths." Henderson, Carey said, has "the personal traits to navigate cross-unit complexities as an ally to our senior executives. She has a wonderful combination of strategic insight and managerial leadership for this role.”
Henderson began at News Corp. in 2006, as senior vice president, corporate communications for Fox Interactive Media. She served in her previous position since 2007.
