‘Kung Fu Panda’ Writers Take a Bite of ‘Candy Land’

Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger turn the children’s game into an “epic adventure” for Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures has chosen "Kung Fu Panda" writers Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger to tackle "Candy Land," the company announced Monday.

The movie is based on the Hasbro children's game. In Aibel and Berger's hands, it will be "an epic adventure based on the iconic game that spans generations," according to the studio.

Kevin Lima ("Enchanted") is directing.

Hasbro signed a 6-year strategic partnership with Universal in 2008. The studio also is making "Battleship" and "Ouija," based on Hasbro games.

Universal's VP production Jeff Kirschenbaum and director of development Maradith Frenkel are overseeing for the studio.

Hasbro's Brian Goldner and Bennett Schneir will produce.  Christopher Chase is executive producer.

Aibel, Berger and Lima are repped by WME.
