Leo, Fine Reunite on Indie Pic ‘The Space Between’

Former actor taps his ‘Young Riders’ co-star for 9/11 drama.

Oscar nominee Melissa Leo joins AnnaSophia Robb, Brad William Henke and newcomer Anthony Keyvan in “The Space Between,” an independently produced feature written and directed by Travis Fine.

Principal photography began this week in Los Angeles on the TSB Films-produced pic. It also will shoot on location in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.

Leo ("Frozen River") plays a fight attendant grounded in Longview, Texas, on Sept. 11, 2001, with an unaccompanied minor, 10-year-old Arab-American Omar (Keyvan), whose father works in the World Trade Center.

Fine, an actor, had left the entertainment industry to fly planes, and he began writing the script while working as a pilot for an American Airlines regional service. He previously worked with Leo on the ABC TV series "The Young Riders."
