Jacqueline Parkes, chief marketing officer for MTV, VH1 and Logo, has been promoted, adding oversight of the three networks’ digital operation and social media.
In addition to her duties as CMO, Parkes will now also serve as executive vice president of digital studios for the three networks. She will partner with Viacom Digital Studios to develop original digital series, franchises, verticals and other content, and build on the three brands’ social media presence.
She will continue to report to MTV, VH1 and Logo president Chris McCarthy.
Parkes’s promotion comes as the Digital Studios unit prepares to launch three new shows including the YouTube series “Yo! MTV Whips,” hosted by Nick Cannon and “Snookin’ in the Crib,” hosted by Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi of “Jersey Shore” fame, as well as a daily MTV News show on Twitter and the Snapchat-based “Promposal.”
“Over the course of her amazing career, Jacqueline has demonstrated a passion for reinvention and innovation that has also been a hallmark of our brands,” McCarthy said in a statement. “I’m thrilled that Jacqueline is taking on a bigger role in our organization and will apply her intuitive ability to connect with audiences to our fast-growing digital portfolio.”
“It’s a privilege to be a part of Chris’ leadership team and have the opportunity to drive fan engagement for our amazing portfolio of brands across all platforms,” added Parkes. “I look forward to partnering with VDS to develop digital originals that will continue to expand our business.”
Parkes, who previously served as the first female CMO in sports with the MLB, joined MTV in 2016.
