NBC4 was by far the most-honored station at the 63rd Los Angeles Area Emmy Nominations, which were announced on Thursday by the L.A.-based Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
The local NBC affiliate received 28 nominations, with KTLA5 landing 17 and Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket receiving 15. Four other stations – CBS2, ABC7, KCET and KTTV – received between seven and nine nominations.
The Academy announced 117 nominations in 42 different categories, along with three station awards and three categories in which the single nominee is an automatic winner.
Categories ranged from breaking news to educational programs, from arts to sports to public-access programming.
The bulk of NBC4's nominations came in the news categories, including four of the five nominees in the Outstanding News Feature Reporting category.
Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket, whose offer to extend their Los Angeles Dodger contract puts them in the thick of owner Frank McCourt's current, messy battle to keep his team, received more nominations for its coverage of the Lakers than of the Dodgers.

The Academy also announced that veteran news anchor and local philanthropist Christine Devine will receive the Los Angeles Area Governors Award.
The awards will be presented on August 6 at the Academy's Leonard H. Goldenson Theatre in North Hollywood.
