Bilbo Baggins Explores His New ‘Hobbit’ on Set

Sneak shots from Peter Jackson’s production might reveal Martin Freeman in character as the furry-toed Middle Earth denizen

Is this the new Bilbo Baggins?

Pictures from the set of Peter Jackson's upcoming J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation "The Hobbit" surfaced on TheOneRing.net on Wednesday. While the images, taken by a rogue shutterbug known only as Master Titi, are from afar, there is some speculation that he may have captured Martin Freeman in character as Bilbo Baggins.

The "Sherlock" actor has been tapped to play the furry-toed Middle Earth denizen in the two-part cinematic offering, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2012 and 2013.

Also starring in the production: Orlando Bloom, who'll be reprising his role as Legolas Greenleaf from Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, and Elijah Wood, also returning as Frodo Baggins.
