Ratings: ‘Duets’ Hits New Low; Univision Takes Key Demo Win

"Big Bang Theory" repeat is night's top-rated and most-watched program

Univision took a ratings win Thursday night, while the singing competition "Duets" hit a low note and "Wipeout" premiered its new season to a dramatic drop, according to preliminary numbers.

With ABC and CBS tying for second place in the ratings, Univision took a narrow first place, averaging a 1.4 rating/4 share in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic, and drew fourth place in total viewers with an average 3.6 million.

Despite airing repeats for the night, CBS shared second place in ratings with a 1.3 rating/4 share in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic, and took first place outright in total viewers with an average 6.5 million. A "Big Bang Theory" repeat at 8 p.m. was the night's highest-rated and most-watched show with a 2.0/7 in the demo and 7.7 million total viewers.

ABC took second place in total viewers with an average 5 million. The network took its lumps in the ratings, starting with "Duets" at 8, which dropped 17 percent from last week for a new low of 1.0/3, and drew 4.2 million total viewers. "Wipeout" had its season premiere the following hour with a 1.9/6 — a 30 percent drop from its winter premiere in January, and down 21 percent from its first original episode (which was not officially categorized as a premiere) last summer. "Rookie Blue" at 10 was also down, slipping 15 percent from its last original airing three weeks ago, dropping to a season low of 1.1/3 and drawing 4.9 million total viewers.

Fox drew fourth place in ratings, averaging a 1.1/3 and fifth place in total viewers with 2.6 million. "Take Me Out" at 8 posted a 1.0/3 and drew 2.3 million total viewers, while "The Choice" the following hour received a 1.2/4 in the demo and 2.9 million total viewers.

NBC came in fifth in ratings with a 1.0/3 and third in total viewers with 4.3 million. "U.S. Olympic Trials '12: Swimming Finals" at 8 drew a 1.7/6 and 6.2 million total viewers, while "Saving Hope" the following hour rebounded from last week's season low, posting a 0.7/2 and grabbing 3.3 million total viewers. "Rock Center With Brian Williams" at 10 drew even with last week, posting a 0.8/2 and 3.5 million total viewers.
