Seth Meyers Translates Teen Slang, Explains “Whisperdick” (Video)

Foreign languages can be challenging, especially that of the American teen.

Seth Meyers devoted a segment on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” Wednesday to explaining some of the latest slang terms teens are using online. For example, the phrase “buh damn” means to be taken aback by your own attractiveness. Meyers used it in the sentence “Is that my ass in the mirror? Buh damn!”

Teens have even brought back a 1920’s slang term, “vanishing Shirley.” This refers to a girl who begs you to come to a party then disappears the second she sees a guy.

The funniest term Meyers translated though was “thirsty.” While this one already has an obvious, everyday usage, teens now use the term to describe someone who is overeager or desperate. Think about someone who likes all of your Facebook pictures at 3 a.m.
