Stephen Colbert Mocks Donald Trump for Following ‘Emergency Kittens’ Twitter Account (Video)

“Even though Trump has 18 million followers, he only follows 42 accounts,” the CBS late-night host jokes

Stephen Colbert mocked Donald Trump on “The Late Show” on Wednesday night for following a new Twitter account with the fluffy title “Emergency Kittens.”

During his monologue, the CBS late-night host pointed out that the president-elect began following @EmrgencyKittens this week, whose feed “features cute kitty photos and memes.”

Trump no longer follows the account, but it remains extremely popular for obvious reasons. With a bio that reads “Critiquing the cutest cats online,” @EmrgencyKittens boasts more than 1.88 million followers.

Colbert went in on Trump for following the account even though the future president is apparently hyper-selective about which tweets will appear in his timeline.

“Even though Trump has 18 million followers, he only follows 42 accounts,” Colbert said. “He doesn’t even follow Barack Obama, and he’s literally about to follow Barack Obama.”

Colbert pulled up one tweet, featuring a picture of a kitten cuddling a man’s arm, as an example of why Trump following this account is particularly odd.

“That must be strange for Trump to see. A man being grabbed by a pussy, it’s so unusual,” he quipped.
