Another THR Hire: S.F. Chronicle’s Tim Goodman as Top TV Critic

The columnist, critic and blogger will debut in the first issue of the trade’s glossy weekly

Tim Goodman, who wrote the popular Bastard Machine blog for the San Francisco Chronicle, has been named the Hollywood Reporter's chief TV criitc, the paper announced Tuesday.

Goodman's work will begin appearing in the first edition of the Reporter's new glossy weekly on Nov. 3.

“I’m excited to join the Hollywood Reporter, it was hard to leave the Chronicle, but I really think the vision of the new THR is great. I wanted to get in right at the start,” Goodman said in a statement.

Goodman's hire is the latest in a series of changes at the venerable trade since former Us Weekly editor Janice Min took charge in May. Former Variety staffer Todd McCarthy was named THR's top film critic Oct. 6.
