Warner Bros. Television is holding on to “Vampire Diaries” showrunner and “The Originals” creator Julie Plec.
The writer/producer has signed a new three-year overall deal with the studio, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.

Both of Plec’s series received early renewals from The CW. She helped develop freshman CW show, “The Tomorrow People,” as well. Fans also know her as a producer and writer on ABC Family’s “Kyle XY,” which has since become a cult favorite.
Previously, Plec served as a producer on several films including “Scream 2” and “Scream 3,” “The Broken Hearts Club” and “Teaching Mrs. Tingle.”
