Vice Media has hired James Rosenstock as its new executive vice president of international and corporate development, the company announced Wednesday.
Rosenstock is a media industry veteran and was most recently EVP of corporate development at Discovery Communications, where he oversaw $3 billion of international mergers and acquisitions.
Rosenstock was instrumental in scaling Discovery’s international business, including the acquisitions of SBS Nordic, Eurosport, Switchover Media and all3Media.
Prior to his time at Discovery, Rosenstock was a development executive at Sony, where he primarily focused on the company’s entertainment businesses. Rosenstock began his career as a media and entertainment sector investment banker, most recently at Credit Suisse.
He will help steer Vice’s global expansion as it continues to enter strategic multi-platform partnerships to distribute its award-winning content across international markets.
“Jay’s been at the forefront of building some of the great international media businesses of the last decade,” Vice Co-President James Schwab said in a statement. “Jay’s range of global relationships, deal-making skills and experience across television, film, music, education, sports and digital content distribution is a perfect fit for Vice.”
Recently, Vice has entered into partnerships with several media, technology and telecommunications companies like HBO, Verizon and Spotify to distribute its content across all platforms.
Rosenstock will be based at Vice’s Brooklyn, N.Y. headquarters and report to Schwab.
