Wes Anderson & Noah Baumbach to Produce Bogdanovich’s ‘Nuts’

The screwball comedy follows an escort, a theatre director and a private detective

Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach will co-produce Peter Bogdanovich's next picture, a comedy titled "Squirrel to the Nuts," the Oscar-nominated filmmaker revealed in an interview with the National Post (via ThePlaylist).

The acclaimed "Last Picture Show" director and respected film historian describes his latest project as "a screwball comedy about an escort, a theatre director and a private detective."

Anderson and Bogdanovich have a history together, as the two directors sat down to discuss the latter's 1981 comedy "They All Laughed" for its DVD extras.

Bogdanovich is also preparing a previously announced adaptation of Kurt Andersen's novel "Turn of the Century," which he has already finished writing with longtime collaborator Parish Rahbar.

Set in February 2000, the story follows "a Manhattan power couple and their three private school-reared kids. The hysterical pace of their respective professional lives threatens to vaporize their already troubled marriage, and the couple struggles to keep their perspective and save their family."

Additionally, Bogdanovich remains optimistic about completing the long-delayed restoration of Orson Welles' "The Other Side of the Wind," which the late filmmaker never finished and has been tangled in legal issues for years.

Criterion is set to release "The Last Picture Show" on Blu-Ray next month as part of their BBS Films box set. The film is scheduled to hit plain-old DVD on Dec. 14.
