WGA Approves Pattern of Demands for Producer Negotiations

Members vote overwhelmingly to support board-selected demands

Writers Guild of America membrers have overwhelmingly approved the pattern of demands that the guild will take into upcoming negotiations with the producers' alliance.

Members voted 97 percent in favor of the pattern, with 1,951 "yes" votes out fo 2,021 ballots.

"This overwhelming support from our joint membership is a powerful mandate for our negotiating committee as it moves forward toward the next (minimum basic agreement)," said WGA West president John Wells and his WGA East counterpart, Michael Winship, in a joint statement.

The Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers added this statement: "The producers are committed to a full and open discussion of the issus and we look forward to working out a new agreement with the Writers Guild of America East and West."
