Will ‘Community’ Creator Dan Harmon Stay On as Showrunner? NBC Chief Unsure

Harmon's clash with Chevy Chase not a factor in talks, Bob Greenblatt says

NBC entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt said Sunday he doesn't know whether "Community" creator Dan Harmon will return as showrunner for the comedy's fourth season.

The network announced Sunday that the series will move from Thursdays to Fridays. Greenblatt says that while he expects Harmon to remain a creative force on the show — perhaps as a consultant — he did not know yet whether he would remain in charge of it. He said talks are underway.

"I haven't been part of those conversations," he added, in a conference call with reporters about the network's 2012-13 lineup.

Harmon has clashed with Chevy Chase, one of the stars in the show's ensemble cast, but Greenblatt said that was not a factor in whether Harmon would stay with the show.

"I don't think so," he said, adding, "I know it has blown up into something." Whether Harmon will stay on, he said, depends on "larger issues that have to do with a lot of things."

Harmon's "Community" co-show runners, Neil Goldman and Garrett Donovan, are leaving the NBC show for a two-year deal in which they will develop and supervise new projects for 20th Century Fox TV.
