Will Ferrell Explains Why His Face Is Painted Like a Tiger on ‘Conan’ (Video)

As with Ferrell a lot of the time, it’s hard to tell if he’s kidding

Leave it to Will Ferrell to appear on camera and pretend like he isn’t there to tell jokes.

That’s what happened on a recent “Conan” appearance. The comedian was a guest on the late-night TBS show, but came out onto the stage in tiger facepaint, waiting for host Conan O’Brien to bring it up.

O’Brien is clearly confused. As Ferrell walks out on stage and greets O’Brien, he eagerly takes his hand and pulls him into a hug as O’Brien stands perfectly still.

“I know! Hump day!” Ferrell exclaims to applause (even though it’s Thursday).

Finally O’Brien brings it up.

“You look fantastic, as you always do,” he begins. “I have to ask you, I’m a little confused… your face. You’re wearing facepaint and I don’t know what the significance is. I don’t know what’s happening right now.”

According to Ferrell, he was at a kid’s birthday party and didn’t have time to clean up before the interview.

“Great kid, kid by the name of Justin. Eight years old today and it was a great time,” he explained.

Things got weird though when Ferrell explained how he knew the boy. Which, as he says, he didn’t.

“Is he a neighborhood kid?” O’Brien asks.

“Yeah. I mean, sort of. Like a mile away?” Ferrell says.

He then goes on to explain that he was driving when he saw the party happening and decided to see what was going on. That’s when, coincidentally, he realized he knew the boy’s mother.

“His mom and I used to hang out for a while,” he says. Then he ended up staying and having a great time.
