YouTube, Univision Become Amigos

Deal puts Spanish-language programming on top online video service.

Spanish-language media giant Univision will make its television programming watchable on YouTube, the Google-owned video-sharing site, the companies announced Monday.

That marks the first time these shows will have been available for online viewing outside of Univision’s websites.

Google hopes the deal will expand YouTube’s Hispanic audience, which grew 80 percent in the last year even before this programming was available.
