Will Forte and Lana Condor have joined the cast of the Warner Animation Group comedy “Coyote vs. Acme.” John Cena is set to star in the long-gestating project, which will be a hybrid of live-action and CG animation.

After Acme products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Roadrunner, Wile E. Coyote hires a billboard lawyer (Forte) to sue the ACME Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer against the latter’s intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes their determination to win.

Dave Green (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows”) will direct from a screenplay by Samy Burch. “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Suicide Squad” filmmaker James Gunn will produce alongside Chris DeFaria.

Forte is coming off of starring, producing and co-creating Peacock’s “MacGruber” sequel series and also created and starred in the Fox comedy “The Last Man on Earth.” Condor, meanwhile, starred in the “To All the Boys” trilogy of romantic comedy films at Netflix.

“Coyote vs. Acme” is due to be released on July 21, 2023.
