“Insecure” is coming back to HBO — but the absence of one key character from promo materials has some fans deeply worried about Season 3.
In the trailer for the third season of Issa Rae’s comedy, her ex Lawrence (Jay Ellis) is notably absent. Back in April, Ellis hinted that he might not be in the show as much as previous seasons on “The Angie Martinez Show.”
“I’m a little bit out of it,” he said, adding that he didn’t know if Issa and Lawrence would have a relationship after their closure in the Season 2 finale.
Of course, we won’t know until Season 3 airs what Issa’s relationship fate ends up being, but from the look of the trailer, she’s still living with her other ex, Daniel (Y’lan Noel).
But things are looking up for Issa, as her friend Kelly (Natasha Rothwell) points out, their crew is “single, thirty, and thriving… Looking like all three Jennifer Hudsons.”
