One would think the host of the “Tonight Show” would be pretty good at his own games, but Jimmy Fallon was buzzed twice during Friday night’s “Catchphrase,” essentially losing the contest single-handedly for teammate and guest Julianne Moore.
To be fair, however, anyone who knows “Catchphrase” knows it’s really not a matter of who can’t hack it, the family-friendly competition is more a crapshoot against the clock, and victory teeters on how long the previous team took off the timer.
The opposing squad, current Broadway stars Michael Cera and Alan Cumming, were far more judicious with their limited time in the NBC late-night game, crushing the home team. Plus, Cera landed a really s0lid Taylor Swift joke in there when Fallon blew Round 1, so the winners were both efficient and entertaining.
That said, clearly the “Arrested Development” star does not fully understand what a turkey baster is; hopefully someone else is keeping the turkey moist at the Cera Thanksgiving next week.
Later on the show, Kid Rock filled in for U2, which had to cancel its “Tonight Show” residency this week after Bono was injured in a bicycle accident.
