John Oliver on Zimmerman Verdict: Florida Law Seems Cut and Pasted From 1881 Tombstone (Video)

The interim "Daily Show" host has a serious beef with the state's Stand Your Ground law

John Oliver returned as interim host of "The Daily Show" on Monday night, introducing the new segment, "Wait: What? How Could You Possibly … You've Got To Be Kid … There Is No Way … I Can't … Oh My God."

The confusing, elongated title of course refers to the comedian's reaction to the George Zimmerman verdict.

While Oliver does not agree with the acquittal, he is mostly depressed that by the letter of Florida law, most pundits agree that the "Not Guilty" verdict was the jury's only option. Clearly, he feels, there is something really wrong with the Stand Your Ground law.

"How does 2013 Florida have a law that seems cut and pasted from 1881 Tombstone?" Oliver asks.

He concluded concluded, "OK Florida, just because you're shaped like some combination of a gun and a d—, doesn't mean you have to act that way."
