Cannes: Kim Kardashian, Lauren Conrad Were ‘Bling Ring’ Inspirations, Says Emma Watson

The film's actress studied the reality stars for the Sofia Coppola film

Reality stars Kim Kardashian and Lauren Conrad have become Hollywood film muses.

"Harry Potter" star Emma Watson was in Cannes promoting her new film, Sophia Coppola's "The Bling Ring." The film is based on actual events surrounding a gang of kids AKA The Bling Ring, who looted the houses of young Hollywood for about $3 million in total booty in 2009-20010, including Paris Hilton, Rachel Bilson, Megan Fox, Lindsay Lohan and Orlando Bloom.

"I watched a lot of 'Keeping up With the Kardashians' and 'The Hills,' and I tried to understand the psychology of this kind of girl as much as possible," Watson told reporters at the Cannes Film Festival.

The British actress plays a teenager who gets wrapped up in the burglarizing ring. "I didn't want her to be just a parody," the 23-year-old said.

"The accent was hard as it was a particular kind of dialect. I also thought a lot about what her parents must have been like."
