Netflix welcomed Jason Bateman and company back to a life of crime Sunday, when the streamer released the official trailer for “Ozark” Season 2 during the Television Critics Association press tour.
In the 1-minute, 44-second clip promoting the second installment of the Emmy-nominated series, Bateman (also Emmy-nominated this year) is trying to keep his family together while also maintaining his drug money laundering biz. And after the events of last season, that’s going be pretty tough for the Byrde clan, as they need to start being more careful when covering up their dirty cash.
“Another man is dead,” Marty’s wife, Wendy (Linney), says in a voiceover, as we pan over the Redneck Riviera and some bones just uncovered by the FBI. “People make choices, Wendy,” Marty responds. “We don’t have to live under the weight of those decisions.”
Eh, you might have to soon, dude, as people are coming for you. “We know that Marty Byrde launders millions of dollars a year for the Navarro cartel,” an FBI official says. “What we need to know are the details of how he does it.”
Here’s the official description for “Ozark” Season 2: In its much-anticipated second season, “Ozark” continues to follow Marty Byrde and his family as they navigate the murky waters of life within a dangerous drug cartel. With Del out, the crime syndicate sends their ruthless attorney Helen Pierce to town to shake things up just as The Byrdes are finally settling in. Marty and Wendy struggle to balance their family interests amid the escalating dangers presented by their partnerships with the power-hungry Snells, the cartel and their new deputy, Ruth Langmore, whose father Cade has been released from prison. The stakes are even higher than before and The Byrdes soon realize they have to go all in before they can get out.
The series stars Bateman, Linney and Julia Garner, and is produced by Bateman’s Aggregate in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.

“Ozark” Season 2 will launch August 31 on Netflix.

Even if they're as uncomfortably real as Director Richard Linklater’s third visit with Jesse and Céline, which proves a very human story that perfectly complements the dreamy setting. Save it for your most bittersweet Netflix binge session.
Sony Pictures
Leaving July 1: “Lethal Weapon” The 1987 cop film that practically codified the buddy cop genre spawned three sequels and a television series that premiered in 2016. But Netflix seems to be getting too old for this sh--, because it's saying "go spit" to Netflix.
