The Daily Show Imagines the Social Nightmare if Facebook Was a Real Life Bar (Video)

Trevor Noah shows what would happen if drinking establishments made money like the largest social network does

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Daily Show,” Trevor Noah looked at how Facebook‘s business model depends on user engagement, and how conflict among users increases that engagement — then he showed how that would work in real life.

In a sketch involving practically every single current “Daily Show” correspondent (and actors galore), viewers got a glimpse of “Bar Facebook,” an upscale watering hole where the bartender’s primary job is to make sure the patrons are tricked into drinking by encouraging them to argue. First up, a woman (Desi Lydic) gets up to leave, but ends up staying and ordering more drinks when the Bartender (played by “Daily Show” MVP Roy Wood Jr.) notices an “I’m still with Her” sticker on her bag and tells her that some dude across the bar “says Bernie would’ve won.”

It’s the same for the bar’s increasingly numerous other patrons, who keep buying drinks and arguing over literally everything your Facebook feed is probably clogged up with right now at this very second. All the while, one poor schmuck (Ronny Chieng) keeps trying to show people pictures of his kids, but only briefly succeeds before the arguments descend into outright brawling.

There’s also some funny regular jokes about Facebook, like “What, you thought they were making money from your pokes? Nah, pokes lose you money. Just ask Bill O’Reilly.” Watch the whole clip above.
