Universal Pictures International has acquired international distribution rights in Latin America and Spain to “Foosball,” the latest film from Juan Jose Campanella.
Campanella is best known as the director of “Secrets in Their Eyes,” which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2010.
That film grossed more than $27 million at the international box office, according to Box Office Mojo.
“Foosball,” a family-oriented 3D toon aimed, marks a sharp contrast from that crime thriller.
It follows a boy whose foosball players come to life and help him battle another player — all in the name of childhood love.
The film is in post-production and will be released in 2013. Film Factory Entertainment is selling international rights.
