‘The Voice’ Top 5 Results: A Winning Streak Is Broken

The NBC competition named its three finalists on Tuesday

One more week and NBC’s “The Voice” will name its Season 5 winner. But, right now five singers are up for elimination. Who will go through to the final week?

No matter what happens, coach Adam Levine will have a finalist. Meanwhile, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton have one competitor each and thus only the one chance for finals. Earlier in the game, Cee Lo Green lost all his team members.

Tuesday’s guest performers were all former competitors making their homecoming. Several have new singles out and I think “The Voice” used this opportunity to remind viewers that it had created working artists. But, has it made superstars? That’s another story.

Season 3 winner Cassadee Pope comes close. She has her own CMT reality series, an album and she performed her single, “I Wish I Could Break Your Heart.”

Earlier, The Swon Brothers, the duo that placed fourth last season, returned to open the episode. They’re currently signed with Arista Records and played their new song, “Later On.”

Michelle Chamuel, Season 4 runner-up, also came by to perform her new single, “Go Down Singing,” with the USC Drum line. It wasn’t what I expected from her. I think I expected something a little more rocking and this was strangely adult contemporary of her.

Season 4 winner Danielle Bradbery also came by to perform “Never Like This” from her album, “Heart of Dixie.”

Enough about the homecomings, here are Tuesday’s results:

First off, host Carson Daly announced the night’s instant elimination. The artist with the lowest votes was Team Adam’s James Wolpert. The alterna-rock guy had come close to leaving last week, but America gave them their Instant Save.

He then announced who had been saved – after asking those strange pageant questions he’s been doing this season. Your finalists were announced in this order: Team Adam’s Tessanne Chin and Team Christina’s Jacquie Lee.

Who will the last finalist be? Will Champlin or Cole Vosbury? And Team Adam’s Will takes the last position.

That means that Blake Shelton’s reign of terror – just kidding, I mean winning streak — has been broken. For the first time since Season 1 when Team Adam took the championship with Javier Colon, someone other than Blake will take the game.

How do you feel about the Top 3?
