Presidential Debate Season Starts Tonight

Here are the times and locations of all three presidential debates and the vice presidential showdown

President Barack Obama takes on Republican challenger Mitt Romney Wednesday night in the first of four debates in the coming weeks, including one vice presidential showdown.

The major networks and cable news channels will be broadcasting the debates in their entirety.

NPR, too, will provide live on-air coverage of the debates.

Online, the debates will be streamed on Ustream, YouTube, Facebook Live and various news sites including the Washington Post and the New York Times.

Twitter's official hashtag will be #debates. And Tumblr, always a favorite of .gif lovers, announced it will be creating and posting moving .gif images from the debates live on its election blog, in partnership with the Guardian newspaper.

Here is the schedule for the debates:

Topic: Domestic policy

Location: University of Denver

Air Time: 6-7:30 p.m. PST

Moderator: Jim Lehrer, host of  "NewsHour" on PBS

 

>> Oct. 11: Joe Biden vs. Paul Ryan

Topic: Foreign and domestic policy

Location: Centre College in Danville, Kentucky

Air Time: 6-7:30 p.m. PST

Moderator: Martha Raddatz, chief foreign correspondent for ABC News

 

>> Oct. 16: Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney

Topic: Foreign and domestic policy in a town hall format

Location: Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York

Air Time: 6-7:30 p.m. PST

Moderator: Candy Crowley, chief political correspondent at CNN

 

>> Oct. 22: Barack Obama vs. Mitt Romney

Topic: Foreign policy

Location: Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida

Air Time: 6-7:30 p.m. PST

Moderator: Bob Schieffer, host of "Face the Nation" on CBS
