ESPN2 will air entire show June 10, with ABC taking highlights to primetime on June 11

ESPN will not only bring viewers the best soccer players in the world during its 2010 FIFA World Cup telecasts next month, but also some of the global superstars of music when it televises a three-hour "kick-off celebration concert" live from South Africa on Thursday, June 10.

The concert to be televised from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET in the U.S. on ESPN2, will feature Alicia Keys, the Black Eyed Peas, John Legend and Juanes. They will perform with a collaboration of African artists, including Amadou & Miriam, Angelique Kidjo, The Parlotones, Tinariwen, Vieux Farka Toure and Vusi Mahlasela, among others.

ABC will broadcast a specially produced two-hour highlight show of the concert in primetime on Friday, June 11, from 8-10 p.m.

The concert will be held in the 30,000-seat Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, South Africa.

"ESPN is committed to bringing fans the most complete and entertaining coverage possible from this historic World Cup in Africa," said Scott Guglielmino, ESPN vp, programming and acquisitions, in a statement announcing the coverage. "The concert will be a celebration of South Africa’s rich cultural history and its connection to the world, one that viewers throughout America will surely want to experience on the eve of the World Cup."

Sal Masekela, human interest reporter for ESPN’s World Cup coverage and co-host of the show "The Daily 10 on E!," will be the on-site host of ESPN2’s presentation of the concert.

The concert telecast will be executive produced by Kevin Wall and his company, Control Room.
