Anne Sweeney, former co-chair of Disney Media Networks and Disney/ABC Television Group president has joined the Netflix board of directors, the streaming company announced on Monday.

Microsoft EVP and general counsel Brad Smith also joined, bringing the total number of directors on the Netflix board to nine.

“We look forward to benefiting from Brad and Anne’s perspective as we continue to build our global Internet TV network,” Netflix founder and CEO Reed Hastings said in a statement.

Sweeney announced in March 2014 that she was leaving her roles as co-chair of Disney Media Networks and president of Disney/ABC Television Group to pursue a career as a TV director. The veteran executive had been with Disney for 19 years before stepping down in January.

Previously, Sweeney served as Chairman and CEO of FX Network, after 12 years at Nickelodeon.

Smith joins Netflix after 22 years at Microsoft, where he has served as general counsel since 2002.
