CBS announced its fall premiere dates Wednesday, sticking with an old-school “premiere week” formula that will feature most of its freshman and returning shows rolling out over a 10-day period.
The network will kick things off Thursday, Sept. 17, with the 19th cycle of “Survivor,” which will be situated in Samoa and run at 8 p.m.
The following Monday, Sept. 21, new sitcom “Accidently on Purpose,” will bow at at 8:30, between season premieres for “How I Met Your Mother” and “Two and a Half Men.”
On Sept. 22, the season premiere of “NCIS” will lead off the night, with new spin-off “NCIS: Los Angeles” at 9 and lawyer drama “The Good Wife” starring Julianna Margulies at 10 p.m.
Sept. 23, it’s a night full of season premieres of returning shows: divorce-themed comedies “New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Gary Unmarried,” followed by dramas “Criminal Minds” and “CSI: New York” — all returning to the same slots they had last year.
The flagship “CSI” will premiere its 10th season Sept. 24 at 9, following the second episode of “Survivor: Samoa.” And “The Mentalist” will mark its big move to 10 on that night with its sophomore-season premiere.
The next night, Sept. 25, “Medium” will make its CBS debut at 9, paranormally sandwiched between “The Ghost Whisperer” and “Numbers.”
The network’s premiere week will end Sunday, Sept. 27, with newsmagazine “60 Minutes” launching its 42nd season at 7, followed by the two-hour, 15th-cycle premiere of “The Amazing Race,” as well as the season opener for the procedural drama “Cold Case” at 10.
The new hospital drama “Three Rivers,” will wait until Oct. 4, when it joins the Sunday-night schedule at 9, with “Amazing Race” resuming its normal one-hour run.
