NBC Orders Pilots from Greg Daniels, Will Ferrell and Adam McKay

Network orders three pilots, including a sperm-donor comedy

NBC ordered three comedy pilots Friday, including one from "The Office" executive producer Greg Daniels, one from Will Ferrell and Adam McKay, and one about a sperm donor's extended family from "Weeds" actor Alex Schemmer.

Getty ImagesThe untitled comedy from executive producer Daniels and writer/executive producer Robert Padnick focuses on a group of friends struggling with dating in their twenties. The project from Deedle Dee Productions, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Universal Television is also executive produced by Tracy Katsky, Howard Klein.

"Assistance," written and executive produced by "Bachelorette" writer Leslye Headland, is executive produced by Ferrell and McKay (pictured), Chris Henchy, and Owen Burke. It is a single-camera pilot focused on an idealistic assistant who is pulled between her "work husband" colleague and real fiance as she manages a crazy boss. It comes from Universal Television and Ferrell and McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions.

"Donor Party," meanwhile, written and executive produced by Schemmer, is executive produced by Geyer Kosinski. It is an ensemble comedy about a man forced to grow up when he learns he has children from his days as a sperm donor. A new family unit develops when a  single mom contacts him and he begins to have a relationship with her and his son. It comes from Lionsgate, Media Talent Group and Universal Television.
