It’s often happened that athletes getting cover treatment in Sports Illustrated has turned out to be the kiss of death, with bad performances many times occuring shortly after the magazine hits the stands with them proudly posed on the cover,
Well the same might be said for the CBS-produced TV magazine that touts all of its programming, Watch!.
In the April issue of Watch!, Jennifer Love Hewitt appears on the cover with the headline, "Love, Actually," and the subhead, "Jennifer Love Hewitt dishes about dating, dreams and the dead" — the latter being an obvious reference to her CBS show, "Ghost Whisperer."
Or should we say, her former CBS show. When the network announced its schedule for next season at upfronts, the five-year old show did not make the cut,
Also in the same issue was a feature story about "The New Adventures of Old Christine’s" Clark Gregg, who plays the ex-husband of the title character in the show.
Guess what. CBS did not renew this show, either.
Clearly the magazine went to press sometime in March before CBS programming executives had made a decision about the show, but copies of the magazine with the 10-page interview and fashion photo shoot of Hewitt were still on display in the offices of CBS headquarters in New York.
Wonder if any of the CBS actors and actresses might start turning down offers to be interviewed or featured in Watch! fearing the "Watch! Curse?"
