Thom Sherman Named CW’s EVP of Development

Sherman is former president of Bad Robot

New CW President Mark Pedowitz has given his first big promotion, naming Thom Sherman the network's executive vice president of development.

Sherman, the former president of J.J. Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, will oversee development of all network programming, scripted and non-scripted alike. He will report directly to Sherman.

"A uniquely gifted executive, Thom possesses remarkable instincts in terms of great storytelling and character development, and he has cultivated tremendous relationships and earned the respect of the creative community," said Pedowitz. "Having known Thom for many years, I’m thrilled to be working alongside him to help further build The CW brand with high quality programming."

Since joining The CW before its 2006 launch, Sherman served as executive vice president of drama development, working on such popular series as “The Vampire Diaries,” “Gossip Girl,” “90210,” “Nikita,” and “Hellcats.”

Prior to that, he served as president Bad Robot, helping guide the first two seasons of "Lost."

He was also senior vice president of the ABC drama development department, working on such shows as "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "Alias,” and “Once & Again.”
