Chris Pratt Is Not a Piece of Meat in ‘SNL’ Promos, But He Can Open a Jar of Pickles (Video)

“Guardians of the Galaxy” star tries to keep cast-member Kate McKinnon under control in promos for 40th season premiere

Hot off of his star-making turn in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” Chris Pratt is hosting the 40th season premiere of “Saturday Night Live.” Cast-member Kate McKinnon joined him for the show’s signature promo reel, which featured her hitting on him awkwardly, threatening him and having him open a jar of pickles … and then another … and then another.

Pratt tried to talk about how hosting the show was a childhood  dream of his, dating back to when he watched Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman on the show, but McKinnon cut him off.

“No one cares Chris, just show them your abs,” she said. “That’s why you’re here.” The “Parks & Recreation” star refused to do it for the camera, but he did turn around and give her a peek, admitting that doing so made him feel dirty.

But it wasn’t all Pratt love, as McKinnon admitted she was hoping for her favorite “GotG” cast-member, Rocket Raccoon. If not him, maybe Groot. As both are CGI, she had to settle for Pratt’s Star-Lord.

During another segment she got so close up on him, he felt the need to remind her he was married. Other bits included McKinnon yelling at him for not being more nervous considering he was a first-time host and this was the 40th season premiere, and a discussion about his last name’s similarity to a British curse word.

One thing’s for sure, Pratt looks calm and comfortable, and McKinnon is clearly all fired up after the summer hiatus.

Here’s hoping the rest of the cast is as energetic when “Saturday Night Live” returns for its 40th season premiere on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 11:30 p.m. ET.
